There's a bulge or inflammation forming on one side of my veiled chameleons vent. Is this serious? (See image)

Is that a male? If so, I wonder if it’s a hemipenal plug. I don’t want to risk giving bad info so @kinyonga may be better able to advise you.

Could be a retained sperm plug or a issue with hemipenes not fully retracting. You can try to gently take a look by carefully pulling bottom of cloaca down... If you see white/yellow dry waxy substance that's a sperm plug... could need a vet.

Hope this is okay, not a great pic, he gets defensive when I get too close to him. you can see it bulging out however
