The Translucent Veileds

Hi all,

I am very interested on why this morph is so valuable? Are they that rare, that some are priced over the "Five Bill Mark"? It takes how many BP's to accomplish high end quality offspring?

Could some of you who care, breed for this morph, post pictures of the difference between a low end, and high end.

Classic supply and demand but truthfully.... people have watched the Ball Python market and have hoped, prayed and rain danced that the same genetic morph thing will happen to their Reptile of choice... Transbalds are the first step in that direction for Chams.

Commoooooooooon Crested Gecko! I have keep on doing that darn dance and dont even get rain... Darn desert...

In time the trans will be common and price will be low, Justin is a prime example of this. A new keeper that takes a shine to them, get a pair or two and breeds them. Before you know it you have 200 more, they are sold ect ect ect... Im sure lots of people are working with them that are not a part of this or any public forum. Tiz the nature of a Veiled, prolific!

Yeah with the rate veilds reproduce i beleive it wont be long before these new oddities of the chameleon world are more affordable for the regular cham keepers.

i think its expensive right now because it is really rare in the wild and only a few have been brought into captivity. Like at fl they brought in wc translucents to strengthen their line instead of inbreeding which i am sure got expensive.

what makes a translucent veiled "translucent" anyway? As in, what seperates it from being a normal veiled?

yeah its completely clear. You can see its organs working and everything. No but really theyre just veileds with parts of their body with no pigment or ive seen some black instead of pigment as well. The ones that are considered "high" trans are ones with say, 70% missing pigment and the low ends might only have a foot or part of their tail without pigment. Thats all i really know about them.
