The tale of Donahue's tail...

[Solid Snake]

A little over two months ago, Donahue's tail was stepped on
It took off the first layer of skin, and he lost movement in it. It didnt seem to slow him down at all, but he always carried it like this, and couldnt curl it all the way up:

I figured he would always have this "disability" and was just glad I didnt step on his head, which easily could have happened.
Well he has been using his tail tip more and more, and finaly, it seems he is all healed up! He is even growing scales back where they had been destroyed/ripped off!
He curls it all the way up now!

It just made me happy that he was able to repair this problem, even though it didnt seem to effect him other than visually.
So just thought I would share

Oh god. When I first realized it happend, he was all shaky and dark, flat out and puffed at the same time, and I didnt know what the damage was...

I really love both of you nuts!! BTW I also had a accident with a door and a cham. I thought I killer her. Best cham ever. Til the day she died she loved to sit in my hand or climb on me. Cried my eyes out for days when it happened. That is what can happen when a cham gets out of it's cage.

The moral of the story, is never leave a cham unattended.
It was after a long drive from TX to NC. I didnt have housing yet, and had to stay at a cabin on the beach when I got there.(Onslow Beach near jacksonville, NC if your ever in the area, its not bad. )
Well Donahue's cage at the time was 3x3x5, and a PITA to assemble. After the drive, and building Stella's whole setup, I was exhausted. Lucky, the light fixture over the bar, fit his bulbs
So I just popped them in, and set his trees underneath.
Well nite time came, and I figured I would put him in the dark on a bendy branch all twisted into a "tree". The darkest safest spot, was up stairs, in a little loft area just for sleeping. I put him in the corner, and he seemed to go to sleep. About an hour later I decided I would check on him. So I crawled up there(carefuly) with a flash light, got to the back corner, NO DONAHUE! Super panic mode! I slowly turn around, and there he was not far behind me, totaly freaking out(almost as much as me). He could see a little light from the den area I guess and was making his way there I picked him up, and saw that I had indeed stepped on his tail He slept in a shefflera in the shower for the rest of the time.
I realize it was far from a desirable situation. I had to just work with it though.
So, even if you think you are being very careful, and taking all the precautions you can. Chameleons really dont care. They are going to do what they want regardless.

Donahue has free ranged ever since, in a closed room, with almost 24/7 supervision. No further issues to date.

Until current case has been thoroughly investigated and appeals have been decided , all animals will be surrendered into the care of the RPA : Agent Red7 . This could take a few years to be determined but after the case has been completed , said animals will be turned over to the proper party .

2 problems with that :
First , I'm to broken down to be able to get down on my knees and then back up again .
Second , I don't get in front of cameras , just behind them
