i just reasently became a chameleon owner since i got him i noticed everynight he climbs into the pothos to the same exact branch and sleeps with his head faceing the ground. no problem for me atleast i know when he wants to sleep. i was just wondering if all chams do this?? cuz if so thats pretty cool. :DD

Yes, many do. In their wild territories they probably choose a sleeping branch where they would be exposed to early morning sunlight and a chance for breakfast. Chams have very detailed spatial memory and know the benefits of pretty much every branch in their territories. They also like routine. Most of mine definitely had favorite perches for different times of day.

:D i figured it was for like protection from predators. and the way he is upside down for zapping any bugs that come near him. also alot of people say thier chameleon cant sleep with lights on but i few times i have turned on a light and he stays asleep. iv also fell of my bed and hit hard and he stayed sleeping. i think they might just need no light to fall asleep.

My baby cham does that too. he hangs at the end of the leaf with his head facing directly downward. I guess its comfortable! haha

The veiled I had about 5 years ago did this. Every night about 10 minutes prior to the lights going out (on a timer) he would go to the same branch every night. He did this for his whole life. Now that I think about it, he never slept anywhere else in the cage.

While its true that chams shouldnt have light while sleeping, they can fall asleep around the time lights go off, and can stay asleep when the llights come on.
my Kink has sometimes stayed asleep for another 20 minutes after lights on at 8 am, and has been asleep when i went to turn them off at 8 pm.
