The Hobo Raindome!

Just thought I would share this idea I had for an easy drip system!

I just took a gallon jug and poked a lot of holes in one side and cut an opening to pour water into on the opposite side of the holes. My cham really likes it better than the mistking and the big dripper.. Go figure.. Its a very cheap way to simulate rainfall though if your on a tight budget!

As us young people say: 'YOINK'.

Excellent idea. How often do you need to refill it? Looks like nice gentle drops too, sometimes the dripper can be a bit of a monsoon, and has been said before, only in one place. Might cut down my Mist King from 6 times a day to 4 and use this idea. I'm wasting so much water at the moment, and whilst Ivy isn't dehydrated by any means, I'm not sure I'm offering water in a particularly effective way for her.

Thinking about stealing this idea today!!! Only problem is, is that I do not have a cross bar over the top like you do to center it. In fact I have a 2x4 going across two cages that are side by side so I can support my hanging pothos and then a 48 inch linear uvb going across them as well. Then heat lamps in the opening space haha do you think a gallon of water on just the top screen will break the screen because I think it would? Any help please?!

A full gallo on water weighs a lil more then 7 pounds so if u think that will break ur screen top I would get a supporter

I felt the same way and that's what sparked the idea. I put around 2 cups of water in it 3 times a day usually, and the water drops are pretty soft if you only fill it with small amounts of water. I had to cut back on my mistking as well, I have like 200 water jugs in my garage, I think I'm going to cut the tops off of and use them for mantids. It might be time to invest in an RO system though.

Just fill it up with small amounts of water a couple times a day so it won't be as heavy.;)

Cool idea. How many mist nozzles are in your enclosure already 2-3? Why not redirect 1 of the nozzles to mist into that jug and in the enclosure with the other nozzle, and it will convert it to rain drops like a rain dome and still mist the enclosure.

Thanks for the spoiler alert on my next post haha

Female is ape shit for it and my male was very intimidated by it at first... now he is just curious haha

Let us know how that goes. I'm interested.

Nice, haha my guy was kinda freaked as well but he just sits under it.When I put the jug on top of the cage he scurries up underneath it. I think using nice warm water helped him get use to it.

More proof that this raindome works! I find if you take the larger container (bigger than the 1 gallon) and turn it on its side and poke holes on both sides to drip into both cages that the chams go crazy for it all day. And at night flip it over on the other wide where the holes are up and then no more rain forest :)

By the way using my method only seems effective if you have two cages side by side like me or if you have some sort of support on top of your screen cage like a cross beam.
