The bio dude

So I'm a huge proponent of bio-active substrate. I was on YouTube, trying to find the end of the internet, when I stumbled upon the bio dude's channel. So this is a young guy, who looks to have started his second business venture into the world of reptile/amphibian care. His videos were hands down the best, most informative I've ever seen regarding bio-active vivariums. I've read the books published about naturalistic vivaria distributed by Arcadia, and I have to say, these videos were just as informative. So I then visited his website, thebiodude.com, and I believe I've stumbled upon a goldmine. His strength is his proprietary blends of soils and substrates, and his variety of isopods and springtails. This website is amazing, and his products look legit. I'm not currently in the market for more substrate, but I will look here first when I am. Please check this guy out, and if we could, try and contact him to become a site sponsor.

Just saying this, bugs are not the end to a bioactive environment. Check out the art of keeping snakes. Amazing book

Will do, looking forward to a good read. I do understand there is a lot more than just the bugs, but I was excited to see a new vender offer supplemental microfauna and other additives that I have not seen elsware. And again, I have not done business with this guy, just very impressed with both his selection, and informative video series.

I know a lot of people that bought from him when he still ran Genesis Exotics. I have purchased 1 culture of springtails and isopods from him when he ran that site. I failed horribly with the springtails, but that was more down to me not knowing what to do, than anything related to his site / products.

He is also one of the few people that sells palm bark and my isopods love that stuff. That said, his shipping is expensive, which has put me off ordering from him again. Shipping rates are going up though, so it may not be just his site.

I order a lot of my terrarium supplies from NEHERP (their V2 substrate, drainage layer, cork bark ,etc.).

If you're interested, there's also an isopod group on facebook that you can use to get in touch with people that keep species you want.
