Just needed to vent, been talking with a few sponsors to find the rite cham for me. well after this experience I feel like I've been pressured like at a used car lot. All this happened at the same sponsor for this forum the first male I wanted I sent an email and received a polite response saying that they would be unavailable over the weekend. So over the weekend they sold the male and told me there were no more males left. So I get another email about one I might like, by the time I read it and think, they sold it from under me as well. Third one I liked sure enough sentm an email and they sold it out from under me, then find they had an xtra male from the first sire available, n wouldn't u know it they sold him out from under me when I sentm an email also. I quit game over that's 4 chams from one sponsor that were sold out from under me when making inquiries, I expect a few things when I shop one is most certainly if I'm lookin at a car I don't want the salesman to smile at me and sell it rite out from under me. Or is buying a cham from here like goin to an auction be fast be quick cause they aint slowin down to answer ya and if they do its already gone. Thanks for nothing I appreciate it.have a merry christmas cause you ruined mine

Not coming back to the site for a long time unless I need info or health problem with my current cham ( who I bought as a male and turned out to be a female!!!!) I just honestly quit after this experience, money isn't an object just hate being 2nd fiddle when I'm tryn to give sum1 money.

Julirs has a point. They may not have felt comfortable with their chameleons being test subjects.

What do you mean test subjects?
And julirs what are you talking about plants for?
Theres something I must of missed.

As for Handikapped, dont bother with that site sponsor anymore that is very bad service, try another!

Go back and read through the OP's threads. Then you will understand what we are talking about. I agree it is not the best customer service. Seller reserves the right to not sell to anyone they choose, but they should let the buyer know they will not sell to them. There is always another side to a story and we only have one here.

OK I understand now.
But I dont see why the breeder will be so picky about who to sell to unless they are dealing with something very rare but I doubt that.
And the only reason Im sure they wouldnt have sold him the chameleon is because of the way he might keep it but the breeder will still sell them the chameleon but before selling it they would make them correct whatever needs to be corrected.

And I know breeders do not like sitting around with chameleons that need to be sold because of how much they cost each week.
I would know from the hatchling veileds I was selling. They did take longer than I thought they would to be sold.

If it is such an issue for you, pick up the phone and CALL. Then you can look at the cham & buy it while looking!!!!!!!!!

Money talks with all businesses, whoever sends the money first gets the item. Unless they told you they were holding the chameleon for you I don't see any problem with them selling it while you are looking at it. I'm sure they get a lot of people every day asking about chameleons then they don't end up buying it. So when you are asking about it they probably aren't expecting you to buy it, but when someone sends the money they are :)

Imagine u went to buy a car u ask the salesman a few questions, and he shows u the cars that best suit you. After u review the choices and ask to see your top choice again they have already sold it. Then they sold your second choice. Then sold the duplicate car to the origional you wanted they forgot to mention they had that would have solved this whole situation.

That is exactly what I feel like. I agree money talks i have plent saved for just the right cham.

Psshh, go look at my thread again about his plant. Regardless of what you think I did it entirely with the cham and plants safety in mind because frankly no-one had done it well enough to have a definitive yes or no on the subject. I concluded it is not the best idea, because the sustainable environments required for plant and cham are too different and the chameleon wins out in her cage.

I must quote vince vaughn in the breakup " you know the first person who invented fire? They burned that witch, but they ate good that night and were warm"

I'm not saying they weren't nice and polite they were very nice. Some of us can deal with a busy walstreet paced environment. Others like myself prefer a slower paced environment. just the clash of the two styles has left me spinning like tryn to force a square peg in a round hole.

Money does talk, maybe I shoulda just sent them money and then worked on which one to get. Either way the only chams I've wanted are gone, my girlfriend is pissed she the one cham I have isn't gonna have a boyfriend. Only thing I wanted for myself for christmas was a cham specific to my requirements. There must be 100 males from various sponsors I've only seen a handfull (about 5) I liked.

I view the ability to take time to think about my decisions versus impulse buy a "limited time offer" as a measure of maturity. Unfortunately the timeframe under which I was to decide was lengthier than the alloted timeframe and I missed out. Unfortunately it cost me the only cham I've really wanted and for that I am just distraught.

Is it possible that you did not leave a deposit or get an agreement on time to think this over???

As a breeder, I will hold chams , when a deposit is provided. I have , also, held back a cham for an agreed upon length of time, to allow a potential buyer to decide. But short of a mutual understanding or deposit , any cham for sale , remains for sale until a firm commitment to purchase is made by anyone. Otherwise, I'd be holding some chams for weeks, just to never hear back from a tire kicker.

Put yourself in the sellers shoes and consider how many times they field emails and phone calls from less than serious customers. You need to define what timelines you require and the seller needs to agree with that, before they are responsible for having ruined your christmas.

Well said!! I often get requests to hold a cham for someone, as (thankfully) they want to get their cage set up first and so on. Or, simply because they just want me to hold it. Either way, they are instructed that they must pay a deposit or no dice (and also that I can't hold it forever because I have to pay to feed it, etc.). I totally agree with Harry.

I have the same type policies as Chams1 and ChromaChameleons. I think we are all happy to hold a cham for somebody with a deposit. I will even give somebody a reasonable amount of time to think about a potential purchase.
Many years ago, I use to hold a cham for somebody without a deposit. Well most of the time, the transaction will never go through. In the mean time, I had numerous people inquiring about the same cham and only to tell them I am waiting to hear back from somebody. The first person never came through, and when I would contact the other people who were interested, they have already purchased as they were tired of waiting.
Form a sellers point of view, that is not the best business practice in telling someone that I can let you know in a few days if something is available. So that is why a deposit is needed to hold a chameleon. It insures someone can get the cham they want and potentail customers will know what a particular seller has available.

Forget the chams

Everyone just needs a tortoise. Problem is, I don't take deposits, and don't hold anything until it's paid for in full. I almost never provide individual photos of animals either - it's too time consuming for me to keep providing photos for photo lookers. Once it's paid for, I might send a photo of a few to pick from. And I do it all with a smile on my face. Some might call this bad customer service. I call it maintaining my sanity.

Bravo, Tyler! Thank God there's one sane person here!

Tortoises make great stocking stuffers!
