is it strange for a veiled to lay just one infertile egg? she didnt dig in her laying bin and she was showing no signs that she was carrying eggs for the past two weeks. she hasnt been eating as much as i usually feed her and her urates are getting yellow which is crazy since i have my mist king go off at least 6 times a day for 2-3 minutes each. shes looking thin too since she hasnt been eating and her back leg is a little weak. she doesnt look like she has eggs at all which is why im so surprised with the one egg. i think ill have to set up a vet visit. any idea whats going on?

My first female dropped a single egg a few days before laying her second clutch. You know your cham best, if you are really concerned for her then a vet visit will help to ease your mind.

I have seen veiled do a lot of strange stuff, but I have never seem a female with only one egg. If she is dropping it in the open get her in a laying bin even if you don't think she needs it. If she doesn't dig and lay within a few days I would schedule a vet visit. An x-ray with determine the egg issue and if she seems egg bound then you will need the vet anyway.

Let us know how it goes.

i got an appointment to see my vet tomorrow. this morning she wasnt interested in food which is rare for her and she was climbing around her cage. there aren't any signs of her digging in her laying bin, so im wondering if she knows where it is. she looks really thin since she hasn't been eating but today when i came home from work she managed to eat one cricket from me. i tried to offer her more but she wasn't interested.
Miss Lily, she might be doing what your girl did. hopefully by tomorrow ill know! this is my first time dealing with infertile eggs so im a bit worried about it all! i hope i do the best for her.

ok so i took thalamus to the vet. he says shes looking pretty healthy and that shes full of eggs! right now i have her in a temporary cage with a big bucket full of sand/organic potting soil. i took some long vines from her pothos plant inside her normal cage and have them going into her temp cage for her to drink off of along with her mistking. i also stuck some bamboo sticks into the bucket and across the cage so she can bask when shes resting. she also ate another cricket for me today which makes me feel better. i hope she will lay her eggs with no problems and im sure ill be a wreck until shes finished laying them! please keep her in your thoughts :)

shes finished laying! 52 eggs. :) now shes resting and getting a good drink. she ate a bit too. it was pretty stressful for both of us but im glad she finished under 24 hours!:D

So glad that she laid ok! I always think it's far more stressful for us than them - they know what they are doing! I was pacing the floor when Lily was digging to lay her second clutch! I'm dreading Amy laying her first lot!

thanks miss lily! i wish good luck to amy and you when she lays her first clutch. i think its funny how both our girls laid a single egg before laying the full clutch! maybe amy will do the same? :p
