so i am in the process of shopping for a new chameleon. a panther to be exact. now i am looking at either a sambava or an ambilobe... can anyone tell me if there is much of a temperment difference in the two. i own a veiled now and he hates hands in his cage or even around him. i do so as sparingly as possible. i would like to obtain a cham that will be somewhat okay with the occasional handling. any input is appreciated

In my experience Sambava's are much more reluctant to allow you to handle them. Simply put my male Sambava will nail you any chance he gets. I've been lucky enough to be quicker then he is. I can still handle him but you gotta be careful. Besides mine, other Sambava's have also been much more hi-strung then Ambilobe's. My Ambilobe males are very calm.

you will never know what animal will end up tolerating you or not. sorry, this is a question with no answer.

some animals come in angry, stay angry, dont lighten up.

some animals come in fine, end up being mean lol.

some animals come in angry, end up being tolerable.

Get what im saying dude?

thats about what i figured, but for the most part the ambilobe has a higher chance of being more leniant in the handling department?

It really depends, there's no way to say one will probably be more okay with handling. Chameleons are chameleons after all :)
