Temperature and Humidity

So I know that it is good to know the temperatures in pretty much the basking spot and the bottom of the cage. Does it also make sense to know the humidity in the different locations of the cage?

If it does, this is what I want to do with my setup.

3 thermometers
3 hygrometers

I would be placing 1 of each at the following locations:
Basking Spot
Middle of cage
Bottom of cage

Yes, I know it is a lot of meters and I know there are combo meters out there, but I would like to have all 6 readouts at the same time. I have a few network webcams and one of them will be aimed directly at the meters so I can just pull up the webpage and see what all the temps are whenever I want to.

The other webcams will be pointed at the cage so I can see what the he is up to. All of the webcams have night vision so you can see in the dark and I will never have to disturb my little buddy.

sounds like quite a plan! a lot of keepers have readings on three different areas of there enclosures :)
are you handling him at all? just curious!

I don't have him yet. Planning on the July time frame to get the chameleon. I have talked to a couple breeders and they say they will have chameleons ready at that time. I am just getting a jump on everything right now. Ordering all necessary parts and equipment. Then I will be getting the plants and running the system for a couple months to make sure they are doing well and then come July I will get my little buddy.

cool! its awesome that you are getting everything prepared and doing the research beforehand :) that way everything will be perfect when you bring him home! what kind are you going to get, do you know yet?

I know I want a panther. Beyond that I have narrowed it down to a few different locales. Nosy Be, Ambilobe, Ambanja, and Nosy Faly.

I have not been able to narrow past that just yet. I think they are all so beautiful, but I know I will have to pick just one, at least for now. Maybe once I have had this one for a while I can talk my fiance (will be wife when we get the little guy) into letting me get another one.

We are also looking at a bearded dragon at some point as well.

Oh, also, Thank You for the compliment on getting everything ready. I like to do my research and get prepared before I do something, especially when it comes to a living creature.

panthers are gorgeous!
it would be fun for the two of you newlyweds to pick out a second one together! :)
i've never had a beardie but they are pretty darn cool, always been a snake person before i got into chams, reptiles are awesome.
you're welcome. that's the best way to do it, for you and for them

We are picking this one out together as well since we will both be responsible for him. We are both having so much trouble though as we want them all. She thinks the coolest thing about a chameleon so far is their tongue.

Chameleons and Bearded Dragons are the only reptiles that I am really a fan of. The others just don't do it for me. We would get a dog as well, but she is highly allergic to pretty much any animal that has fur or hair because of the dander.

its hard picking one out for sure, good luck to you both! i agree that its hard to not want to bring them all home :) their tongues are awesome and their eyes.
it sucks to be allergic, but there's lots of other animals that you two can have and love and not be allergic to, like chams haha gotta love em
