Technical: UVB and Nylon?

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question. ❓

I'm working on designing a custom 30" x 30" x 48" enclosure from aluminum Quick Frame.
In pricing it out, I find that the connectors are made of nylon, and the question occurred to me, will the UVB needed on top of the enclosure degrade the nylon connectors (they are exposed at the corners), and if so how badly & how quickly? I'm guessing this would only affect the corner connectors on the top of the frame, and those on the bottom (being 48" away) would be out of range of the UVB(?)

I don't know for certain. But you will want your UVB fixture more centered so it should not be on your front or back edge where you have the nylon connectors. The ones on the bottom would have no UVB exposure. Depending on fixture type you lose all UVB exposure once you are 18-24 inches away from the bulbs.

I would think it would be fine because you would not have direct exposure. Also I use nylon zip ties at basking level and through out my cage. No change in strength or color of the ties even at basking level. They have been in place for a year now. :)

Thanks. That probably says more than anything. There will be some direct (albeit peripheral) exposure at the top, whether I put the UVB directly between 2 sides or diagonally, but not like direct sunlight (until I start bringing the thing outside during summers).

I was tentatively planning on using another Sunblaster fixture, assuming they've corrected the reflector glitch by then. Otherwise, I'm not sure yet.

After OP, it occurred to me that painting the corner connectors with aluminum paint might provide some protection—even from the sun.

I'm hoping this enclosure will outlast a chameleon or 2 at least! :)
