Tap water??

just check ur local water quality rating and what minerals or whatever they may add to your local water

shouldnt be a problem, you might get some hard water build up after a while but it comes off pretty easily.

It really depends on where you are and what you are concerned about. There's no one right answer for this. Check with the local water authority to see what's in your water and then decide if you feel it's safe for your chameleons.

The argument that "if it's safe for you it's okay for them" is flawed. Much that is perfectly safe for humans isn't even safe for other mammals. Reptiles are even more different.

Checking your local water can help answer that, also you can get nice water conditioner from a pet store to help keep the water nice for the cham! I condition the water my cham gets misted with.

tap Water

I live in Fl and I wont drink it. Tastes like S*** lol. I use distilled. I buy it at winn dixie. I am going to purchase a counter top distilled water machine, they go for about 175.00. They put out about 4 gallons a day. I wanted one before I got my Panther. This is just one more reason to make my purchaseand drink good water. I use it in all my cooking and tea/coffee cant go wrong and it tastes great. Even purified/filtered spring water has things in it that only distilling will remove. Try your tap water on your crickets first, they are like canary's in the coal mine! Add it to the crystals if it doesn't kill them after 4 weeks it should be ok. They are very sensitive.

I also have Bonsai plants. I use tap water but I let it sit out over night some of the Chlorine/chemicals whatever they use is supposed to evaporate out and that should be better.

Ive heard those distilled machines dont work for very long before they break down.... Your money may be better spent on an RO system;) I just got 1 and my tap water went from 265 ppm to 14 ! I only spent $125... ;) I can live well with 14 ppm... & you will get 50 gallons a day instead of 4

I used to buy the 5 gallon jugs of spring water but I stopped and tried using tap water and haven't had any issues with my mist king. It's been a few months so it's a little early but Ive saved a bunch of money on those damn 5 gallon jugs of spring water!!!

Yeah.... There was just a big thread (Dont know how to post it) Called Distilled versus Bottled.... A very good read... The final conclusion was Reverse Osmosis was the best cost wise & health wise. ;) I LUV my new RO system.... crystal clear ice cubes,,, awsome tasting coffee& frozen juice & it wont clog my Mist King nozzles. They recommend RO water rite in thier directions

That doesn't seem to be true of Fluoride, which is the additive I am most concerned with. Chameleons don't seem to process fluoride well but I don't think crickets care about it.

Ro Water

My buddy has his counter top distilled water machine for over 4 years now. I am interested in the Ro do you have a good website or brand to recommend?

I bought mine at Amazon... It looks to me like most of the new systems use universal replacement filters.

We have a water purifier attached to our sink, its called the Athena. Its pretty cool too, it talks! :D.

If it is 1 of those things you mount on the end of the faucet.... They dont do much except make the water taste better.... ALL the crap is still in it.;)
