Tan Lines?

I noticed that when my new 3 month old nosy be sits under his UV light, he turns brownish, however, where his legs covers his abdomen, is a clearly defined spot of light bluish grey (one of his normal colors), where the shadow from his leg was. I was just wondering if this is normal, or possibly a sign of overly intense UV radiation. Because his uv light he likes to sit under is a T5HO.

On my little guy it was the opposite, he turns brown where the light was hitting and his 'armpits' were light.

Right, because his armpits are warmer than the rest of his body. If he's dark while under his light, that means he's trying to get even warmer, since dark colors absorb heat. He may not have a warm enough basking spot. Anywhere where body parts are against each other, it will hold heat there. Does that make sense?
