Tamatave - Maroantsetra ?

Knowing what you purchase from an importer, and then passing it along to the retail customer via several forums is your responsibility, not this communities to tell you what you have so you can sell it. If your not sure what males are which, how are you going to discern your females. Good luck.

Yes sir, I have to agree with this one. Very good post Chad.

I know I would proceed with caution seeing this thread. If you can get through it that is.....

What were the people questioning the locale pointing out that made you question your importer? It seems to me that maroantetra and tamataves are very similar and unless it was someone that has a lot of experience in both I would trust your importer over someone that doesn't know what they are talking about.

Good thing none have sold yet. I expected more out of this post. Males and females came in labeled and were seperated accordingly so they are in their respective groups. Its not a question of discerning females ... its about getting to the bottom of two very similar locales. Which means .. whatever the boys are, the girls are too.

This all stems from someone stating they were Tamatave. Im not familiar with the two locales. I even had that same person say one looked Ankaramy. I think these two locales are very similar and the motive was to just get more of an understanding on discerning the two. I should stick to what the exporter labeled them as. Being WC they should be cared for by experienced keepers as they require more attention. Hopeful such an experienced keeper can discern what they are just by pictures provided.

I just want to mention that many importers don't give a damn what locale is what. There seems to be a consensus that importers know best, but truthfully most of them will label them what the hell the want to get top dollar.
