she is.
WHile many lizards, like iguanas ad geckos tails can fall off and then grow back.
chameleon tails do not.
once its gone, its gone.

people have a big misconception that lizards of all kinda can grow back anything.
when my camo lost his tounge everyone who didnt know chams first reponce was
"oh it will grow back right" sadly NO

i do beleive there are a few other lizards that can even regerate a lost limb but im not too sure about that

In her defence most of the people I know believe that chameleon change colour to match their surrounding!

Generally if the lizard has a prehensile tail it doesn't break off and regrow.

I can speak from experience, i had a hatchling Sambava that got her tail stuck in the aluminum screen when she was a week old, the tail fell off and has not grown back. she's 5 months old now and gets by just fine.
