T5 lifespan

I hear they are guaranteed to be good for a year but unless someone here had actually used one for that long I plan to change it after 6 months.

Do you know this first hand? :)

I have not had my chameleon/arcadia lights for a year yet but Arcadia Reptile is raising the bar on reptile lighting.

See https://www.chameleonforums.com/arcadia-lights-ish-90099/index4.html#post847238

and http://www.arcadia-reptile.com/lighting-guide/

I trust the other forum members and especially Todd at LightYourReptiles.com to relay true and correct information when it comes to lighting. We are all in this hobby because we love the reptiles we keep, and want the best for them.

Thank you for the links! I only want the best as well. I'm a first time keeper and just unsure of these things so I really wanted to be sure :)

They last a year and should be changed every year unless you have a solarmeter.

My local rep shop uses a solarmeter and have there T5 bulbs in for about 18 months and they still give out good uvb levels for the animals kept under them.

Arcadia T5's will EASILY last a year.

Arcadia T5 6% will EASILY last a year.
And are bright- your plants will be thankfull.:)

The Premium 6% and 12% Regular out-put T-8's will last a year too.

The new 5% & 10% Euro Range will last 9 months.
They have nice 6.5k light for plants - so you get a UV B bulb that will actually grow plants too!

Now...
If you are one of those folks with a Solarmeter and are using t5 12%'s -
AND can creativly work with them on large enclosures,
AND can adjust to the correct distance(s)....
AND even possibly do the double screening trick to shade off a percentage of the light like Hoj is doing... only to remove the screen, say, 6 - 8 mo. down the road when the bulb's out-put becomes reduced....

I bet folks will get 14-15 months easy out of those beauties.

Arcadia is definitly a product you actually get what you pay for AND MORE++

Please take a moment to visit their educational AND very easy to understand web-site.
