This and one other baby hatched yesterday. Two hatched, eighteen to go--lots sweating and pipping eggs. Fingers and toes crossed.
I'm trying something new with these babies. Instead of an enclosure with a bare floor, I'm putting them in a fully planted Exo-Terra, 24" x 24" x 18" deep. I have many slices of orange hanging around the Exo-Terra to get the fruit flies to congregate in places around the cage. I'm not sure how this will work. I sure hope they can find food. I'm having second thoughts about it.... The silly baby that is in the planted cage seems to gravitate to the corners and the walls. I wonder if I might have to block the glass so they can't see out.
The second baby to hatch came from a very small egg and had a very large egg yolk that didn't absorb but instead pinched itself off. That baby was not only small and thin looking but also didn't have the benefit of absorbing its yolk so I've put it in a deli cup so water and food will always be within reach.
