Today was my first time trying to switch my snakes to frozen food, and amazingly enough they took it without too much of a fight!!! i was blown away! both of them have only ever had live food, my baby ball python and 8 year old rosy boa. my bp just snapped up the hopper, then realized it wasnt kicking, decided it was fine and ate it :) my rosy refused it at first so i had to warm it up again but then she wolfed it right now once it was nice and warm again!!
im such a proud mommy tonight! i know it seems weird but these small achievements really do mean a lot :D im stoked because if they continue to eat the f/t for the next couple weeks i can order them offline for about a third of the price im paying locally and it is so much safer for my girls. YAY!!!!!
had to share my happiness :) :D

Now that they've eaten F/T once, I doubt you'll have any trouble getting them to continue eating F/T. Good job!

There are some major rat breeders that supply in bulk, and I've tried a couple. One recently went out of business, forcing me to change to another, which produces pretty good quality product but forces customers to buy in pretty big packages that are too much for my small collection (9 snakes right now). Fortunately, one of our local herp society members recently began offering rats for sale, and I got some from him today that look really healthy.

So you might look locally and see if you can arrange something with someone.

Good luck!

Sandy

Thanks Sandy!! im so happy!!!!! i was mainly worried about my rosy, she's always been a weird eater but she took it after a few minutes :) i got some of the bedding from the live mice at the store and put it in the bag while i defrosted them in warm water so that made them smell like live mice and i think that helped, thanks for the good advice!

I'm glad you were able to find some quality rats locally, thats good :) a friend of mine that runs a local reptile rescue recommended rodentpro.com, thats where she gets all of her feeders and they are quality with good prices and a good variety on sizes of feeders and packages. ive looked at their site and am going to order from them and see what i think! its a third of the price i pay locally and they carry mice and rats so i can move her to rat fuzzies. i want to make sure they will eat f/t again next week before i place my order, but im glad to hear that you think they should be good to go now that they have tried it!
