Surprise Clutch..

So I woke up this morning and went out to mist the chams. I noticed that Ginger was looking mighty dirty. I did not think anything of it at first because she has not been bred in about 3 months. I continue misting away and then I noticed some soil had been displaced inside the plant pot. A closer examination of Ginger reveals that yes indeed she is covered in potting soil.

I start digging, and here is what I uncover...

And here is the champ taking a nice warm shower

The eggs appear to be good size and are bright white. She had already laid one retained clutch, so this would be number two from that first mating.

Im glad she laid the eggs.... I would suggest a couple things. I would always leave a laying bin in there, also I see fertilizer pellets in that soil (the little green things) if she were to ingest that it would be bad news bears. So, either replace it with organic potting soil, or cover any plants that have fertilizer in them with rocks. I would personally replace the soil.

See ya,

Todd

Yea I agree, this was completely unexpected. I was just saying the other day how I need to cover the top of the plant pot with river rock and put the laying bin in for the other female. lol This caught me by surprise.

Well the girl just ate 8 crickets lightly dusted with Calcium and Vitamins and she appears to be doing very well! :) This stuff is very stressful on Dad!
