Supplementing / MBD

Tomorrow i'll try to set up an appointment to have my vet check on Jasper. Hoepfully giving him a small dose of the metronidazole. But i'm debating if I should try out the reptaid for a week or so to see if he gets any better. I did ask for hypodermic needles, So i can inject the proper dosages in a butterworm or something. How is the metronidazole given to the cham? Injection or are they drops?

Again, Thank you so much Dr. O! I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into your comments. Really helps me out and also improves my knowledge. Makes me a beter cham keeper aswell :)

it’s a liquid. it needs to be compounded in the US (i have found that tutti-frutti works best when selecting flavors for reptiles; no joke!), but the Mexican OTC version is excellent and tastes really good! like a sugary lime margarita! whenever a herp vet has a friend vacationing in Mexico, we're alway like, “ummmm…..while you are there, would you mind stopping off at la farmacia…….., i promise, it’s not illegal! ”, and pick up a few bottles. $5-6 apiece, $35-100 for a worse product compounded in the USA. injecting will definitely kill the worm, but that’s fine if he eats it.

if you do a week of Reptaid, you’re probably past the point where he would even need metronidazole anyway.

you're welcome!; i love doing this and am all too happy to have become more involved in this Forum. :)

Thanks!

Just gave jasper a male dubia roach. I had to force his mouth open but i just tossed the roach in his mouth. Let him chill for a minute then he started chomping it down. I took the head off aswell before I fed it too him. The roach molted about 2 days ago so he was fairly soft.
