Supplement help?

My baby panther will be arriving on Monday and I believe I have everything ready. I'm still confused with dusting as there are so many different opinions. I have purchased calcium without D3 (to use daily) and a multivitamin with D3 to use biweekly. Is this right?

That should work. I would see how much D3 is actually in the multivitamin as you might need to get some calcium with D3 to use biweekly as well with the Multivitamin.

Lots of factors go into supplement schedules but generally you don't need D3 or vitamins more than once a week, if not just twice a month. It depends on the brand and the concentration quite a bit.

I'd purchased repti calcium without D3 (zoomed brand) and zoo meds reptivite with D3. The % of D3 is 10,390IU per lb. so would it be right to use the first one daily and the other weekly? Or should I get another supplement with higher D3?

I dont think there is such a thing as an established "required daily values"
for vitamins and minerals for chams, like there is for us.
That is probably why opinions very greatly.

It also depends on age, and how much natural sunlight they get.

I live in canada. So no natural sunlight really until the summer and he will be about 3 months when he arrives. Due to air canada he will now be a week late:( but this gives me more time to ensure a proper home for him:)
In the summer he will be able to spend lots of time outside in the sunshine but not now. So maybe D3 once a week?

They get most of their D3 from the UV light, so just get a good high output
6% tube bulb and fixture.
The UV does not reach very far, and drops quite a bit past 6'', so you don't
want your cham too far from it.

I would just do the D3 supplement once (maybe twice) a month.

I use Arcadia 22'' HO T5 6% tubes, they last a good year or more, and the
UV output is much higher then the other brands I have tried (using Solarmeter) to measure the % output.

I just have a coil bulb right now for UV. Once he's bigger and I upgrade to a custom home for him I will be getting the fluorescent lighting! Thank you:)

yes that would be okay, depending on what you gutload with, what prey you use, type of lighting, etc.
You don't actually want a unchanging fixed schedule - you want to vary what you provide based on need. supplements should be supplementary to providing correct environmental factors and proper feeding.

I suggest reading these:

any you might find it interesting to see what I have done with my panthers - I keep logs of what prey I offer and what supplements were used, if any. note that not all feeder prey needs supplement dust added

been awhile since I've had baby panthers - you can go back a few pages to find them, but its not all that different from adult panthers other than size of prey :)

Thank you so much! I think I'll get some extra D3 to supplement over the winter months then cut back when the summer comes around! Thank you:)
