Question: do keepers who let their chameleons get alot of sun normally suplement less? including chameleons just out for part of the day. and including chameleons that are kept outside all of the time.
Yes, you can pretty much not supplement with D3 if your chameleon is getting real sunlight (and thus making its own). Still want a vitamin supplement periodically though
Whether or not they live outside, they still need calcium and other minerals and vitamins.
The only thing that would be different is no D3, which I only do once or twice a month anyway.
The same way we get them.
In our food, water, etc.
Prey in "the wild" are constantly gut loaded.
Wild chameleons also consume small vertebrates and I suspect a decent amount of forest floor (dirt, leaves, etc.)
