Super worms!!!

I bought super worms yesterday. Thought I would try them out since my chameleon likes all other worms and I try to give him a variety of different food. I put a couple in his cage and let them climb the screen and he went running for them, he got one in his mouth and it was squirming and twisting around and then it feel out of his mouth. This happened 5 five times last night, he can't even puncture them with his teeth. I guess thats why they call them super worms lol. Poor guy wants to eat them so bad but they get away from him everytime. The expression on his little face after they twisted out of his mouth was priceless, but I will not be buying those anymore or at least untill his gets a bit bigger and stronger.:D

Does he have (or has he previously had) MBD? Are they too big for him? Even my babies can each appropriately sized supers, so I dont know why he can't pierce them?

Try getting a thumbtack and puncturing the supers...Might make them a bit softer/easier for your cham to start chomping at them.

Also as someone else said, Try getting them when they molt (shed). They'll be allot softer.

Good luck and let us know how round 2 goes :)

I've been giving my chameleon calcium, calcium with D3 and vitamins since I got him so I don't think he has MBD and doesn't show any of the signs of having MBD. I sure as hell hope not anyway! and they are a little big and there hard as rock too, I'm going to try again tonight to feed him super worms and watch closely what the problem is and go from there I guess.

haha thanks thats a good idea, im going to try that tonight.

I suppose he could be freaked out by the wiggling! Smaller or softer ones would definitely help if thats the case!
