Super Worms

Alright I want to spice things up a bit more with my Chameleons feedings, when can I give her super worms, she is 4 months old so I was just curious if she can even get them at that age? I am assuming that she can...Let me know! Thank you!

yes, you can feed a variety of appropriately sized prey at any age. I give my baby chameleons baby superworms, and my young chameleons (like yours) small superworms, among other things. The width of the superworm should be no wider than the space between her eyes, and the length of the super should be less than about twice the length of her head
You likely dont want superworms to form more than 20% of the chams diet though.

From what I've read on here about superworms be careful. They're like Chameleon crack....a lot of Chameleons get addicted to them and don't want to eat anything else. :/

yeah i read someones post about that, and thanks sandra, I just wanted to be sure I was following the same rules as I did for crickets and just to be sure what to feed her. Thank you for replying to my post

We had an incident once with one of our veilds. When he grabbed the super he kinda of got the back end and the worm curled up and grabbed his eye/head. He shook him off spit him out and won't eat them anymore. So what I do now with my other veiled is flick the little sucker in the head which stuns or kills them and then offer it, they still move for a while

so can crickets - and the spiky legs of crickets and roaches arent soft either. Chameleons are fine eating superworms

A superworm drowns very quickly in water, much less stomach acid. So even if your chameleon doesnt crunch/chew its prey, the superworm will die quickly once swallowed.

This is true. Many of my customers email me asking why their chameleon will only eat superworms.
