Sunken Eyes!!!!

Eww he could be a WC. If this is the case you may want to invest in some panacure and flagyl. I honestly didn't read through all the posts, it seems like everyone is going with the dehydration card. If its a WC is it prob a mix of dehydration and another prob, parasites or something like that. Because chameleons recess their eyes when they aren't in optimum condition. I would suggest panacure and flagyl and some juicy worms (ie. butter, horn, silkies).

what is panacure and flagyl ? i do feed my cham silkworms, hornworms, butterworms.

If he is still staying sunken in after eating horn worms and silkies...then I would bet he has worms. That is what panacure is for. The flagyl isn't as necessary but it is for parasites. Did you buy him as an adult? If so, he is WC because there are very, very few people working with these.

What is Wc? I bought him in april of this year and the people who told me he was 9 months old. I have only had him for 3 months.

WC means wild caught, as opposed to CB 'captive bred'.

Do you have pictures you can post? Are his eyes always sunken? How does the rest of his head look, full?

It is odd for a chameleon that is eating silkies and horns to be dehydrated. I think a picture could help a lot. But honestly I don't know of anyone in the US that breeds these chameleons, not to say there aren't one or two somewhere. But panacure wouldn't hurt.

See if you can get us some pics...they would help.

i can send pixs. I bought him from the swat meet. He was mix with a bunch of other chameleons in one big cage. And when i saw him he caught my eye more than any one else in that cage. He is my first reptile here are a couple pixs of him and his sunken eyes. But ever since i had him he had always had sunken eyes. I don't think the people who had him care for much. Because there was no water dripping there was no UVB light nor basking light just trees and branches in the cage.





Maybe gracefuls are different from other chameleons. Cause i went to a pet shop and i say another girl graceful chameleon that is prego and her eyes was a bit sunken in and on her cage it had water and lights?

Its eyes are a little sunken, but not drastically, the species appears to have pronounced ridges which might give a sunken effect to the eyes worse than it is.
Keep up the dripper and moist foods, he should rehydrate ok.

Okay . Is that your chameleon or just a pix to show me ? On the top of his eye were there black line goes down. why do they have that? My cham has that to?

I think she is fine...but as a result of you feeding her all these silkies and horm worms she could be gravid. From the pic, it looks like she may be. Honestly I don't see many gravid Gracefuls. So, if she stops eating make sure you feel her belly and see if you there are eggs.

No those pics are not mine, I have a different species, I just posted them for comparison for you, they are the same species as yours.
The black lines/ridges over the eyes are a normal part of your lizards anatomy, Im not sure what they are called though.

Ok so he has the tarsal spur? Ok...if he were mine, I would do panacure and flagyl to be sure. Many Gracefuls come in with heavy parasites. Get a fecal if you would like to be sure.
