If I can expose my cham to natural sunlight do I still need to supplement the feedings? I think/thought that I read somewhere that you can diminish supplements with adequate exposure. If so, how much sunlight are we talking? 30 min, 60 min, a couple of hours per day? Thanks in advance!

I'd still supplement with vitamins, but lower the D3 dosage. You need to get the chameleon in the sun a few a hours a day, consistently, to lower the dosage.

I have approximately a 3mos old panther and live in Houston. We're still in the mid 90's for temps. Can I leave him outside while I'm @ work for 8temps hrs? He would have shade...

That's too much for such a young one.. I wouldn't leave him outside for more that 30 minutes in that heat. I'd leave him with an 80 degree ambient temperature..the sun will provide more heat. 90 is too much

I gotcha.. dont worry.. What I said is with 8 hours in mind.. too hot for such a young one. I wouldnt keep an adult in such heat that long either. I keep my veileds outside in such heat but thats because they come from a much hotter place.

You could always take him out during the weekend. Go to home depot and get one of those cobra misters (i think thats what they are called).. you attach it to a hose and leave it on constantly on part of the cage.. That way the water will help the cham cool off. But I wouldn't leave him out for extended amount of time in that heat.

yup, he'll have to wait until the wknds to grab some nice rays! we should be getting our first cool spell shortly. looking forward to the lower 90's and upper 80's thru Halloween (insert sarcasm)...

Here in So. Florida we are also having some annoying heat. I've seen my cars thermometer (while on the highway, so no stagnant air inside) up to 105. It's been bad. I still keep my veileds outside in the shade. they get a constant breeze as the side of my house produces a funnel along with my neighbors. Its also been very rainy so they get tons of water. Pretty good deal if you ask me .. Now during the winter is gonna be a pain.. Hopefully the temps stay above 50 so I can just keep them outside.
