sun beetle larva?

I tried them for my Rankins, he ate one once, and seemed to like it, but was a bit worried about the next one I put in there, so I gave up trying after a while. Also they are completely freaky looking and I adore bugs, but they really made me uncomfortable. They did look like they'd be really lovely fried in garlic butter, however.

Garlic butter, eh? I totally had to look them up after that. Haha. There is a reptile store in the UK that sells them as feeders. So maybe they are OK??

I feed the larvae to my chameleons and geckos that are all a size to be able to have them. They do have some mean jaws on them so I usually crush the jaws before feeding them so they cannt bite the animal. They make a good snack but are like wax worms and are higher in fat than crickets.
