SUITABLE CAM SUBSTRATE?

I'm planning on upgrading my chameleon viv. Currently, I've a planted viv, which I really like and enjoy. It looks superb, if I say so myself! I'm not sure if the much wider viv could be planted. I've seen plants sitting in their pots on an empty floor not very aesthically pleasing, in my opinion. I was thinking of wood bark chips, but advised against it, due to possible impaction.

Any advice on the above matter would be much appreciated folks. Thanks

The best substrates are either none (bare floor) or a true bioactive with drainage layer and clean up crew. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/intro-to-bio-activity.2429/
Anything else usually has various risks. If you want a naturalistic aesthetic, bio active is much easier than it initially appears.

Thanks. I'm already using a bio active substrate. I've got a porous gravel rock base, mesh netting, compost/peat. I added tropical woodlice and springtails. Very pleasing to the eye.
