Suggestions on how much to feed my 16 month old female veiled

Since I've had my girl, she eats about 9-12 crickets a day .. and about 2-4 superworms or 1 silkworm a week. Am I overfeeding her? Could someone correct me if I am not feeding her properly. She LOVES to eat and since I see her hunting, sometimes I feel I'm depriving her. She is very healthy otherwise. Your suggestions are appreciated!

Id cut down to about 7 crix every other day. To much food can cause her to lay a giant clutch. Most people feed there adults every other day. Id do 6-7 crix one day then switch it up to 6 silk worms for the next feeding then switch to another insect. variety is very important.

I agree if you keep feeding her that much you could have problems with weight and thats not even thinking about the extra burden with all the extra eggs being laid.

Wow .. I had no idea it would effect the amount of eggs. Speaking of which, should I always have some sort of tub with soil in it or is there a certain time of year that females tend to lay? Thanks for the responses!!

Always have a laying bin that is 10-12 inches deeps and big enough for her on all side including above her with the soil/sand in it. Use playsand or organic fertilizer/perlite free soil or a mix of the two.

Thank Pssh .. and for a bin, is there anything I can use around the house? Milk carton, bowl, tupperware, etc.? Or should I be looking to purchase something specific?

people like to make milk carton feeders by cutting out two sides of the box and putting screen on the inside of the carton walls that are still left... the crickets climb and the cham eats...

When you cut the sides leave a portion of the carton as a dish at the bottom... don't start the cut at the bottom of the carton, start it up a couple of inches.

I feed my adult female panthers almost every day, but only 1-2 bugs a day (unless they are developing eggs, in which case they get more).

For laying bins, I use dark coloured plastic bins (rubbermaid or similar) about 18" deep, 12" wide, 12" long and filled with damp sand. I always have a laying bin in the cage, just in case, even though Im very good at knowing when my girls need to lay.

Thanks Sandra - I'm so at odds with feeding my girl every other day. 2-3 a day sounds a lot better to me. If she is gravid, how many should I feed. What do you do?

I'm asking about the laying bin because I see my girl digging in the coco substrate I have but she is digging more into one corner. I thought she might be trying to dig a hole to lay eggs. She has been on the ground a lot today looking around and seems to keep coming back to that one spot. It's just different behaviour from her regular routine.

so once mated feeding can increase because the number of eggs to be fertilized as already been determined right? This means the clutch size is based on food intake in between matings? lots of food, lots of babies, smaller amounts of food less babies?
