I am a silkworm breeder, but I don't have any reptiles. Reptile hasn't been my thing in the past but since I now have thousands of silks, I'd like to try out some new pets. Btw, I was a sugar glider breeder and have raised many other things before.

I have a 30 long fish tank. Only one terrorizing convict cichlid in it. When I say terrorizing, I mean it. He chased everyone off and eventually he became the sole survivor.

Well, unsure of what to do with him yet, but I am interested in getting a cham.. howeve, was told chams can't live in glass tanks. But I just saw a glass vivariums set up.

Is there any breed of cham that would be appropriate for a tank?and does anyone like to trade ?

yes that is what I was told.. but I just saw others post with glass set up...??

I think it was for pygmies.. but there are no pygmy picture for me to go by... I think I'd like a panther??

you can definately do pygmys!! in a glass tank. they are awesome and are the only species of chameleon that can be housed together. in a 30 gallon, i think youll be ok with 1 male and 3 females. they are the coolest little things ever!! and require alot of attention. but for someone who has been breeding other typs of wildlife.....following directions and caresheets shouldnt be a problem. unfortunately they are not nearly as colorful as panthers but if its a glass tank you want then you are limiting yourself to this genus. Search pygmys in the search bar and youll find tons of blogs on care and keeping. ill try to send you some posts that i have read. i wish you lots of luck with your pygmys!!!!:D:D:D

Thanks for your reply. It did begin to narrow down as I did more reading..

they are not colorful but are like woodsy.. very interesting kind of chameleon..

:)

I disagree, they can be very colorful. Perhaps not red or blue, but they can be vibrant greens and browns with grays and blacks. I have a bearded Pygmy chameleon male that is a beautiful green color all the time. He looks like a Bright moss covered leaf with eyes. :) there are also more expensive types of pygmies (who are also harder to care for) who have brighter colors and what not. :)

glass tank's r bad for chameleon no good u need a screen cage :D

It's not bad if there is lots of ventilation provided in the tank....
It completely depends where you are in the world.
If you are in Canada, the UK or Europe where it can get really cold then a glass tank is appropriate with a few adjustments.
If you live in hotter climates then screen cages are the way to go.
