Stupid question #113 laying bin in Bioactive setup

My Bioactive setup works out great. She loves it, she is hydrated... but my laying bin is a problem. I permanently added the bin, using vermiculite and sand. I mist 3x day. Once right after the lights turn on at 7am, once at 3pm and again right before the light go out st 7pm, 7 min each, but at 3 on for 3 minutes only.

My laying bin collects water... so my concern is how can I stop they from happening? Obviously I try to get the water out fault, but I’m really not sure if at this point it’s too wet. (I have a hard time getting to it due to the plants. Of course I tried to move the mister, but it still reached the bin. So, I’m pretty much doing the obvious. Wondering if I should forget about the 3om misting? My humidity level is at around 43%

Any other suggestions would help me a lot. Thank you

Why do you need an extra lay bin in a bioactive setup? I'd ditch it and just make sure the substrate is deep enough, if possible. Mine is between 8-10" deep throughout the enclosure and the soil is naturally moist enough below the surface to support her tunnel. That being said, I never did find the eggs she laid, so if you are breeding then you may want the bin to make it easier to retrieve the eggs.

You never found the eggs? Did you have isopods in there?

That’s why I have a separate laying bin. Scared I won’t find the eggs. Well, they and I was told to use mostly sand

I did reduce misting to 4 minutes morning and night and deleted the afternoon misting.

I did order more subtrade, and will probably be worrying to death for the next 6 or 12 month... but I’ll trust you guys... she’ll lay her infertile eggs In the subtrade and my isopods and spring tales will take care of it. ( I just added them a week ago, so I don’t think they are doing their job yet) I just don’t want her to get eggbound. I don’t think she’s anywhere close to it... I am guessing she’s about 7 or 8 month olds. (Could be wrong, Petco had no clue)

Side note: Petco really should tell customers about female Chams and what to expect. I had no clue.
