i just got my baby on friday and hes been a off colored green lately.and when i go near him he would open his mouth. i am not going near him anymore for at least 41 days now. hoping that he will be less stressed. is there anything else i can do so he is happy? the temp and humidity is perfect! 80 degrees and 60-85%.

when i got him, he was pretty much tied to the hip with another chameleon (my best friends chameleon). ever since they got them in the store they always been next to eachother and wrapping there tails together. i even would see them rub their heads against eachother. once we separated them, he hasnt been a bright green. my best friends chameleon has been doing great.

could this be a problem with being stressed out?

I assume it is stress related. It is a big change for the little one to move homes and he will need time to settle in.

When you say 80 degrees, is that the basking temperature of the ambient temperature?

Also, it looks like you have them separated now which is a good thing. They shouldn't be kept together anymore, even if they look like they are friends.

I would check out some care items and go over everything in your setup to make sure it meets what the little guy will need. https://www.chameleonforums.com/basic-husbandry-38769/

Also, I would fill out the https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/, it will help others get some more insight on the issue and you some more feedback about your current setup and husbandry.

Even if it may look like they're "friends" they're not. Chameleons are solitary animals and should never be kept in the same cage past the age of 2 months old really.

I hope you will follow some caresheets if you already do not have a proper setup/temps/water etc.

Good luck with your baby. It is probably just relocation stress. Just give it time.
