Stress coming from Noise and Vibrations

I've been reading some of the threads mentioning how noises and vibrations can cause stress to a Chameleon. Seeing as many members here have their enclosures in rooms that are carpeted, I was wondering if it is wise to remove the Chameleon from the room before vacuuming. I do not have a chameleon yet, putting everything in the enclosure together, but this thought just occurred to me and I thought I would present the idea. What do you do when it is time to clean the Cham's room?

Our chameleons DESPISE vacuum cleaners. I got a nice shopvac for our cham rooms and can't even use it! It is either the noise, or the fact that parts of it look like a huge snake. I would guess people with carpet just keep the vacuuming to a necessary minimum? Other noises and vibrations don't appear to bother them at all.

IMO short term vibrations will cause stress but nothing too bad. The only time i would worrie about would be a constant vibrations.

I haven't noticed it with my little guy. What bothers him the most is my ringneck parakeet free flying in the room. INCOMING !!!

Removing the Cham from the room?

I know handling is subject that carries many different opinions, would it be better to remove the Chameleon from the room on those occasions when vacuuming is necessary? Or would that cause more stress than it is worth? I hope this thread proves useful for many others, I'm not trying to waste space or time, I really am curious about this subject.

I would leave him and vacuum real fast and get it over with. Or Vacuum at night, if your guy is a heavy sleeper. my guys can sleep through anything, i moved their cages once and they did not wake up.

I just tiled our last room in this house. No more carpet. I also have a team (3) of these running around the house. :D

lol those things are sweet...my guy didnt mind it...but my rooms real small so i was done in 30 seconds.

All chams are different. I vacuumed in my room once, he didn't mind. No stressed coloring, nothing.

Just try to keep the vibrations to a minimum, don't use the hose-vacuum unless you absolutely have to, and if you do, put a towel over the cage to block his line of sight.

I guess what you can do is try it once, see what he does, and if he looks stressed, you might have to try something else.

Lily was never too bothered by the vacuuming. She would just sit there and watch the world go by. Having said that, on several occasions she pooped whilst I was vacuuming!:D Never thought that they might see the hose as a giant snake! I guess they just learn to live with the vacuum in the same that they learn to live with everything else that goes on in the house.

There are some articles about different small species which using vibrations as a form of communication.
So I think long time vibration could stress them very much

I should point out that I had the roombas before the Chams. Tile is a pita and needs to be vacced daily. I'm lazy :p

Completely forgot about Brevs, I know someone posted a nice little article about it on one of the past threads.
