Female Sambava 13 months old.
Looks and eat healthy. Basking most of the time during the day by turning her sides to the lamp.
There is this strange spot/color fade showed up couple weeks ago on both sides.
See pictures. One side is larger than the other...
Any comment what it might be?

Thank You;

Could she be getting too close to her basking light to cause burns? You say she turns her sides to her light. Chams will not move away from a light that is too hot. Check your basking temps and hold the back of your hand to where she would bask, and leave it there for a few mins. Is it too hot?:)

I am new to chameleons, but I was gonna say 'burn' when I saw those, too. :(

Definitely burns. I learned the hard way as well with my female. She was burned fairly badly as I was instructed to get improper heat lamps from the person I bought her from. Sadly she now has scars on both sides but otherwise has been very active and in good health. On a related note I was recently told she will likely never produce eggs as this is a result from the burns. Can anyone confirm this and or elaborate as to why this is? Good luck but definitely check temps as they will hang on roof of cage which I now know should never be above 100F. Basking sites should be adjusted to mid 80s range. Hope that helps and she is a good looking girl regardless ;)
