Strange poo?

Hi all,

As some of you know I have 2 adult male panther chameleons. 1 Ambilobe and 1 Ankaramy. Anyway, My Ank is having the strangest poos lately. They seem to be covered in a semi transluscent mucus and when i opened it up to take a look it seems to have orange crystals in it with white through the middle! I havnt got a pic to show but next time he does 1 ill post a pic. Has anyone seen this before? Most of the poo is normal with normal urates too but usually has this wierd mucus sack attached to the brown part. It looks strange, Almost like a worm attached to the poo. And the orange crystals? no idea what they could be. I feed him locusts with the rear legs removed as they can be prickly, dubias, cricks, way worms, rose beetle grubs with head removed so they dont eat their way out. Obviously i dont feed them all at once, just swap and change between them so he has some variety.

Both my chameleons have exactly the same setup, fed the same and supplemented the same so it cant be anything to do with food or supplementation as the Ambi is fine.

Any ideas?

my only guess is parasites. if poo is covered like that, thats what it usually means. you could go to a vet and get a fecal test done. if you cant go to a vet, make sure your chameleon is healthy. parasites cant kill a healthy chameleon. or at least thats what ive heard. i really dont know.

good luck!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but what you have seen before may possibly just be a sperm plug that was deposited in the cage. They sometimes look as you described, but without a picture we won't be able to tell you for certain. Definitely make sure to still get a fecal done asap, though.
