Strange ?Eggs?

My female has not been eating for three days. I ran through the regular checklist of reasons why and could not figure out why she would not be eating. She laid eggs in late September. She did shed her crown (head only)over the last week or so and I thought maybe she was going to shed the rest of her body. Then yesterday I noticed an egg looking "thing" on the floor of her enclosure that looked like a piece of corn, only a bit more egg shaped. I thought it might have been a leftover egg from her last laying. I had just added a new light to the enclosure, and it is revealing some things that were in the dark before now, so that dried up egg theory made sense to me. Today I found two more of these egg things. They look like yolk with no shell. They are very firm, but still soft enough to squish. It appears that one was going to be a double yolked egg. There look to be possible bits of egg shells on the one "thing" Disregard the black piece of whatever. That's stuff from the bottom of the enclosure. So now I'm assuming the next thought is about her calcium intake. I follow the regimen prescribed on this website, and most importantly, she seems to be just fine. She is not sluggish, she's not discolored or splotchy, she's drinking water, but she's not eating. My female by the way, is not a breeder. She is my only chameleon. Anyone have any ideas for me?

My chameleon Thor just did this to me about 2weeks ago, if she has been eating like 1 or two crickets a day than i would not feed her for 4 to 5 days and just make sure she stays hydrated, after it has been 4-5days try feeding her and i guarantee you her hunger will boost right back up. Hope this works as well for you as it has for me cause now Thor eats 15 crickets a day

Egg Bin?

Do you have an egg laying bin? something with sand or dirt , she needs to lay the eggs or she could die, even if they do NOT mate, they still need to lay, good luck ,

I'm not worried about the fact she's not eating, and I really don't think making your cham go 4-5 days without food just to get it to eat is really a good idea. I'll feed her daily, and if she doesn't eat,it's no problem getting the crickets back out.
What I'm concerned about is the strange yolk eggs.

Yes, I have given her a bin. She has laid eggs 3 times since July, and all she uses the egg bin for is pooping, like a cat that's been litter box trained. She just plops the eggs from her warm basking perch onto the floor below,or into the plants, but she will not use the bin. I count the eggs to make sure she is laying a proper amount. This time though, the eggs with no shell, 4 so far, has me stumped. I would be really concerned if she was in bad shape, but like I said, she is fine other than the no eating ,which is common when she lays. Her bones are all straight, and she is showing no signs of discomfort or illness.

I don't have females but I think it is odd that she has laid eggs three times in such a short period of time. Jackson girls are viviparous meaning they give birth to live young. Undated females will drop "slugs" which sound a lot like what you are describing.

I agree with you that it seems odd that she has laid so many times. I got her on July 29th. She had just laid prior to that. Then she has laid three more time in that 4 month period. She lays about 18 eggs each time, and until now they were all in good shape. She is a Dwarf Fischer's Chameleon.Again today, she appears to be in excellent condition and is ready to play. By play I mean she wants to get out of her enclosure an climb the wild vines in the living room. I have setup a series of ropes from one plant hanger to another and she will go from plant to plant to hide in the foliage. I have lamps shining on the plants so she stays warm.and have an infrared point and shoot thermometer so I can monitor the temperature of the areas she chooses to stop at.She stays out for 1-3 hours catching those pesky little bugs that fly around this time of year called Vent Flies. She is usually thirsty when she gets back into the enclosure, and she drinks from a drip system, which is cleaned regularly. Her enclosure is very well maintained and cleaned regularly, as are the cricket houses. I have no idea why she is laying so often, and now the eggs without shells have be really stumped.

Not feeding for nearly a week will not clean anything out. As long as they have a warm enough basking spot and plenty of water to hydrate them they will pass everything they need to just fine.

Well al I can say is it made my cham start eating a healthy amount of food each day because befpre he ate lile a max of two crickets for a whole 2weeks

I think you are confusing starving your chameleon and his resultant hunger instead of this being some kind of cleansing. I wouldn't suggest doing this very often if ever again. It's not a treatment. I am not new to chameleons, and only posted because I was concerned about the eggs with no shells. There are always posts from people who are trying to be helpful, and some from people who just want to see their posts online. Please be careful when posting that what you are posting is proven and actually beneficial, and not just repeating, "The say..."or "I heard..." Sometimes when you repeat what someone else has posted, you might be repeating bad advice or even dangerous advice. I appreciate your attempt to help, but I worry about people keeping food from such a small creature for five days being a problem for others.

I am certainly no expert and am not familiar with the chameleon you describe, but I wonder if the fact that she is laying so many eggs has depleted her calcium stores? Maybe she needs some extra? I don't really know though. Other people who have females have said they stop eating when getting ready to lay eggs so maybe that is why she is not eating. I hope you can find out what is going on.

They seem like I calcified eggs. Aside from that, I don't really know much about it. Perhaps do a search on the boards to see what others suggest?

As for the 5 days without food thing, a healthy adult panther/veiled will have no issues going 5 days without eating. Some can go a month without any negative effects. It is NOT a treatment or a "cleansing" however. Babies or unhealthy animals should never be forced to go that long without food as it could push them onto death's doorstep.
