I dont know if something is wrong whith my chameleon but she is very dump when you grab her always want to jump from your hand to he floor and in her cage when you are going to grab her to clean tha cage when she see me automatically jumps to the floor of the cage and start to run. Its like she belive she is an iguana.

It is a natural fear response that all living things do when they feel threatened.- freeze, fight, flight, fetal.

You should not really grab your Cham you could hurt them they are fragile.

if you want your Cham out of the cage you would have better luck using something-a stick. When they climb onto it move the stick slowly out of the cage. Then if you put the stick lower than your hand natural instincts should make them want to climb to the highest point you.

Right now they are doing the flight if it turns to Fight, you could receive a very nasty bite- never mind the Vet bill if you injure them while grabbing.

You need to gain their trust as not a threat. You can also try hand feeding them once out and be known as the food source rather than that big creature that comes into my home and tries to squeeze me :(

Sounds like a typical wc to me. Move real slow when you approach, and use a branch instead of hand to remove from cage. But always ensure she doesn't fall.

I dont squezee her i put me hand behind her and slizzed to the front and she gets on me hand but sudenly is jumpig time for her:mad:

I was watching a documentary on the exoterra site awhile ago and they said that chameleons while they are asleep, if they feel something coming to prey on them, they just let go and fall! I can only assume thats what your animal is doing. Trying to "fall" away from danger.

I did not mean you literally squeeze her- just what she might be thinking-

How old is the Cham and how long have you had her? If she is still within a few weeks of you owning her she is still adjusting and everything is scary.

It has pass litle more than a month and she is like 9" whit the tail. Sorry for the bad englsh im from PR

Try doing the stick and gaining her trust! Hand feeding helps a lot. Then there are some chams that just don't want to be touched....

I agree with what the others have said, usually any type of chameleon that you haven't had for quite sometime will not trust you (yet) and run (or fall) when you try and grab her/him. Try just going slow, and maybe not trying to pick her up when you clean her cage.... when I clean my cham's cages - I just leave them in there while i am doing my business - now it's gotten to where they come down on their lower branch and investigate as to what I'm doing... my girls will even climb onto my hands.... so just try and be patient - and try ignoring him/her and she might just come down to see what you're doing...

IMHO.... :)

Try to lure her on the branch with some kind of food she likes.
Just holt it outside her reach so she has to get on the branch in order to get it.
Anyways, handle her as less as possible.
