Strange black spots on tail

My chameleon has some black in his tail, idk if it’s normal, I mean it hasn’t always been there. I think it’s a recent thing but just wondering what people maybe think it is? Also he’s been in the plants recently, so maybe he got a bit of dirt on his tail ????

This could be a few things. Could be a bruise from injury or insect bite. Could be papilloma. Could be a burn. Or could be some benign discoloration due to unknown reasons. Is it only on one side of the tail?

Sorry this took so long, but yeah ok it’s still there and looks the same. Also to answer your question I think it’s mostly (or all) on one side.

Some chameleons lose pigment on one side of their tail gradually which does not appear to effect them negatively. I don't even know if the condition has a name but I've observed it in different species. Maybe someone else has better info.

Ok, thanks. I figure I’ll keep an eye on it and if it doesn’t seem to be causing any issues, I’ll just leave it be. Thank you a ton for replying
