Strange behavior after drinking?

I often give my chameleon fresh water by screwing my spray bottle tight so when I squeeze the trigger, drops just leak out. I drop the drops on the branch in front of him and then he starts to just drink it directly from the tip of the bottle. He drinks about 20 drops and then when he's done he just stops. But then he puts his head straight up in the air and inhales really deeply with kind of a hissing sound. He does this off and on for a good 5-10 minutes after drinking. Any ideas why this may be? He is a 6 month old panther by the way.
Thanks

no. but then again his head is tilted up so that probably wouldn't happen. I do sometimes hear a little bit of a gurgle sound though. So they don't know when they've had enough?

my chameleon does this when she drinks. i think its their way of swallowing the water when they tilt their heads back. i dont think she hisses loudly though, you can just see her tounge moving around in her throat like shes swallowing and she licks her lips.

My male panther used to do this. I took him to the vet and found out he had an upper resperitory infection. He said that tilting the head up to drink with the gurgling sound was a sympton sometimes associated with a URI, but didn't always mean there was anything wrong with the chameleon. He said some of his chams do it and have nothing wrong with them at all.

every cham ive owned has done this after consuming a larger amount of water.........and sometimes they even come back for some more!
