Still upset??

My baby blue bar ambilobe has been in his new habitat for about 5 days now. He was in a 10 gallon glass tank and i switched him to a 16x16x20 mesh cage. He stayed a steady light brown with some stripes usually while he was in the ten gallon but now that he is in the mesh cage, he seems to stay pretty dark a lot of the time. Any ideas??
 
He could just be settling into his new home and need some more time. Another thought is maybe switching him to the screen cage lowered the temps a bit. Chameleons durn dark when they are trying to absorb heat, just a possibility.
 
it mostly sticks in a zebra plant in there for him, he has a powerful uvb light with two bulbs in it that puts out a little heat and he also has a heat lamp that i havent even seen him bask under yet

Chameleon Info: Ive had my blue bar ambilobe male for about 3 weeks. He is around 3 months old
Handling - once or twice a week
Feeding - I drop 3-5 powdered crickets a day. He also has a mealworm dish....that he pays no attention to.
Supplements - calcium powder w/ and w/o d3 and multivitamin
Watering - I use a drip system with a few mists a day.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - 16x16x20 mesh cage
Lighting - I have a uvb light on a timer during the day with an ultraviolet heat lamp on top of the cage all day.
Temperature - Stays around 65-80 degrees
Plants - golden pothos and a zebra plant along with fake vines with leaves wrapped around and pieces gnarled wood
Placement - On top of a desk about 3 feet off of the ground with no fans on it.
Location - Marietta, Georgia
 
How many times are you dusting a week/month for the calciums and multivitamins? What's his basking temp like? If it's 80, maybe just simply bump up his basking branch to make it 85 degrees. Also I'd offer as much as he can eat in about 1 minute a day since he's only 3 months. How are you gutloading his feeders?
 
Any chance you can post a picture? And specific about what brand lights, is it 5.0 or 10.0. And is his behavior other than color any different? Is he hiding in the plants or active? Are is eyes open? One thing I did notice is that you can up the amount of crickets to like 10 to 12 a day at that age they have pretty hardy appetites!:)
 
Well he wasnt a very big eater from the start. He eats only a couple a day. I guess they are just pretty good sized. i used to throw in about 6-7 but id end up scoopin out a bunch of dead ones. His activity is still regular. He walks around on vines and stuff and gets water but he seems to really liked his zebra plant. he never really ventures too far away from it. I have yet to see him even go in to the other golden pothos that is in there for him. And once i figure out how to upload pictures from my iphone that are on my laptop on to this website, ill have plenty up....just cant figure out how yet >.<
 
Looking forward to seeing some pics! I had trouble with photos also because I am using an iPad I had to get tapatalk app. I think with iPhone you are good though:) the crickets may be a bit too big for him, the general rule being nothing bigger than the space between his eyes ( lengthwise)
 
I dusts a couple times a week and then the others twice a month. I just moved his basking lamp right next to his favorite zebra plant since he never goes to far away from it. His cage is anywhere from 60-80 depending on what time it is. I have some fruit and also a little bowl of flukers calcium quencher cricket food for the crickets. How should I give him more crickets? throw about 10 in there and hope he eats most of them? the crickets he eats are a little skinnier than his head but they are pretty long.

I cant figure out what the 'url' is for the picture on my laptop....isnt url for website pictures...? Im so lost hahaha so are the crickets supposed to be LENGTHwise no longer than the width of his eyes? cause that is tiiiiiinyyyyyy! if thats the case, then thats probably why he doesnt eat a lot of crickets :D
 
You can use a non-see through cup and cupfeed him the crickets. Makes it much easier to find out how many he is really eating. You also need to add some other types of food items for him such as, silkworms, horworms, dubia, mantis etc.
 
are the crickets supposed to be no thicker than his head or are the crickets supposed to be no longer than in between his eyes??
 
No longer, they are probably too big, and I agree with Thompson about variety and gut loading. Sandrachameleon has some great gut loading blogs, look her up when you get a chance :) I wish I could help on the photos but I use an iPad and go through tapatalk app do upload photos because those URL options you are talking about were not an option for me because I have an apple. I am a bit technically challenged as well :rolleyes: hopefully some one else will chime in and sort that out for ya :)

I posted that and it just showed up as a broken picture icon, you can right click it and open it in a new tab though
