still not eating .. eggbound perhaps?

hi all, need some guidance here.

My femail veil is still not eating well. The amount she takes is so little that it worries me. She has been seen crawling around even on floors of the screen cage, from what i read, scratching on the floor and eager to get out of cage, seems like a sign of egg bound??. She doesnt have any blue marks shown no sign of bulging stomach and she is just about 6 cm from snout to to body. I do not know what age she is as we have not been told. Is there a probability of egg bound? she has about 2 super 3 flies...sometimes not eating at all. can see ribs .. heres the data below. ..please advise/ help ! shes very socializing . loves people to hold her and would eat from your hand .. please help .. dun wanna lose her ! ..

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - 2 month in hand + veil chameleon (i think)
Handling - 4 times a week
Feeding - cup feeder and free range feeders - flies and small cricket, super worms and meal worms. Dubia has been oredered and will arrive on wednesday, giving it a try. hopfully she eats them.
Supplements - exo terra multi vitamins .
Watering - using exo terra monsoon ..mist every 4 hours for 50sec. she drinks from leaves.
Fecal Description - black with white thingy, mosit
History - previous owner gave up and was sold to pet shop .

Cage Info:
Cage Type - exo terra screen cage 18 x18 x 24
Lighting - exo terra solar glow 8 am to 8 pm. daily dosage of 2 hour exposure to sun.
Temperature - not measured. living in tropical area, with constant 39 - 32 C weather.
Humidity - using exo terra monsoon ..mist every 4 hours for 50sec.
Plants - real plants - bougainvilla and hibiscus
Placement - out side of house, above a shoe rack about 5ft from ground.
Location - Malaysia
 
i would have thought it is a abit small for egg bound .. just wondering if there is a possibility though
 
gu tload cricket and supers with carrots, veges, very healthy items.

basking light i use is solar .. shouldnt be to hot .. i have a lot of foliage, hopefully is not too hot, although i did not measure the temp, with the constant misting .. i feel it is not to warmm but as advised, i buy a temp thingy to measure, just to make sure.

i am at the midst of preparing it, just want a confirmation before putting out laying bin. could they be that small and lay eggs?
 
It's unlikely, but it is possible. 4 months old is the youngest I've heard of it.
 
They are able to lay eggs at 4 months???? wow .. that a new one for me .. i think i better put the bin ..just in case .. thanks a lot ! .
 
guys i need some help.

How do i know if she is gravid or eggbound? she looks skinny, theres no lump or eggs in the tummy. can a female chameleon be fasting due to the fact that she is going to develope eggs at an early stage , like, well before the egg developes in her ?
 
Do you know how old she is? Have you measured the temps yet? If the temps are too high they are more likely to develop eggs. You can try to feel the eggs in her belly if she lets you, most time they also change colors while gravid, but not always.
Also, you shouldn't feed her too much superworms, they are hard to digest and quite fatty. I would also recommend trying other feeders, she might be just bored with the ones you use.
 
Sounds like she is eating fine to me. Superworms are high in fat, plus 3 flies a day will probably sustain or even gain weight. The best way to be sure is to use a gram scale and monitor her weight. I weigh my Chameleon every time he poops, this way you don't weigh his stomach and intestine content, and only weight his body mass. then record it on a calender to keep track.

And as DavidBuchan asked do you have D3 supplement?

The temp is around 30C the last time i took it near the basking area. My cham has the morning sun from 730 am to 1130 am aprox. After discussion with the members on chameleon forum on the matter, I did not continue with the D3 and calcium to make sure theres no overdose of d3. I hope im not making a mistake here !.( im still new) . i had felt the belly but no indication of eggs whats so ever. As Dubia is already in the menu now... she had 4 two days ago, 1 yesterday. I think its her style of not eating every other day . I do not know y . My other senegal chameleon has already sheded twice while my veil has yet to shed. Im worried her growth is being restricted. But overall, she does eat every other day, auto misting for 40sec every 3 hours, screen enclosure, pletty of folliage, live plants, dubia supers, meals, flies, crix all made available. currently she is in a 18x 18 x 24 screen exo terra. My last effort wil will be a new cage 5ft x 4 ft x 4ft divded seperated half ( 1 side for my senegal , 1 side for her ). this is the last idea im coming up with after exausting idea storming. if anyone has any ideas please do help. I am open to suggestions.
 
Since she does not have yellow spots yet, it's unlikely that she has eggs (yellow spots indicate that she has reached sexual maturity. They usually come in around 5-6 months old, so she is probably younger that 5-6 months old.) How big are the superworms? If they are large superworms (2 inches/5 cm) three is probably enough for her since she is still small.

What brand of calcium with D3 were you using and when did you stop? You also need a plain calcium powder with no D3 to use on all her dubia and superworms.
 
er .. she has some light green spots .. but turns dark dgreen and stripes when shes hunting. I had posted this question on the requirement of supplements and lighting before. As advised, the supplements should be taken off same as the light source when she is expoosed to the sun. As mentioned i live at a trpopical country and the fear of over calcium d3 might occur. i use small/ medium sized worms. I took the worms out now and changin it to dubia btw.
Everything i use is form exo terra, calcium, multi vitamin, liquid calcium, cages, mister, vines, plants, etc. was using the supplement everyday untill 2 weeks ago after being advised by the senior members. i have even use te vitamins daily bebfore hand.
 
Alright, well just be sure to only use the vitamins once every 2 weeks or so and the calcium every feeding. Superworms are good feeders too, so try to use them for variety in addition to the dubia.

The yellow spots are definitely yellow (not green.) The green spots are normal, but when she gets yellow spots you know she is sexually mature and can develop eggs.
 
thanks a lot! .. yeah the multi vitamin i realise i over dose them at the firt place ! ..but calcium, i have stopped ... just to re confirm . some members says not to use them while some (like urself) says to use em everyday .. its a tad confusing ...

my senegal has yellow spots !!! does this mean she is ready????? only female cham has this i suppose? ..

the worms .. yeah i will include them too ..coz ...i bought a whole lot to many ... hehehe ..

i know the eat plants .. do you leave like leafy greens for her??? cabbage leaves?
 
Do not use calcium with D3. Only use the calcium WITHOUT D3 every feeding.

As for your senegal, I do not know as I dont keep them or know very much about them. Female veileds do get yellow spots when they are secually mature while male veileds get yellow stripes. Look up pictures of female veileds id you want to see fhe yellow spots. They are usually a mustard yellow color.

Some of them do eat plants so make sure the ones in her cage are non-toxic. Dark leafy greens, like the ones you use for gutloading, are good. Anything you can use for gutloading you can feed her if she wants to eat it.
