Stanley is going through his second shed with us and as he rubs the skin off he's actually eating the flakes/sheets of skin...

what does that mean? is this a normal occurrence or is he missing something in his diet?

thanks,, lisa

I've heard of reptiles doing this before and there probably isn't anything to worry about...just as long as Sammy seems healthy and happy :):):):)

I don't know if Sammy is happy or not, but Stanley seems very happy. : )

:D Lol! I noticed that too, lol!

When Amy was about that age she ate her shed too - only during one shed though, strangely enough - she hasn't done it since (well, not that I've seen)! I watched her sat on her plant pot zapping the skin off the floor! Ewww! :D I don't thinkit means anything specific with chameleons, but geckos eat the entire shed as a survival mechanism as it means there are no traces left behind them!

He's gorgeous! I love the way they shed the skin from the soles of their feet in one piece - it looks like they've taken off their dirty socks lol! :D

Its normal.....mine did it more frequently as a youngster. He may be a little off his food later today or early tomorrow and that's just because he has eaten his shed. So don't be too concerned if this happens.

He is a gorgeous little fellow :)
