Squee's spine infection, and some lessons learned

Maybe you can just shove the roaches into the back of his mouth if he won't eat them voluntarily? I've had to do that before when they wouldn't eat the medicated bugs while sick. I just kill the bug before hand. Otherwise, I use a spatula to open their mouth. I use a small one that is thin enough at the edge that I can gently wiggle it between their teeth and then pry the mouth open (again, this is all done very, very gently!) I have found that using a towel (cove the head also if needed, some will start biting the towel) instead of just my hand (when "really pissing them off") will usually get them to open up if they have gotten wise to my hands. I always feel bad when I do all this, but it really is in their best interest.

LOL! I was thinking about doing that, so not to waste, but was afraid he would
not be able to chew and swallow while under the stress of me grasping him.

Yeah, I have one of those mini rubber spatulas, they use for cosmetics to
scrap the bottoms of tiny jars, so you can get the last drop.

I feel bad doing it too, but he seems to still know I'm not going to hurt him.
With the vet, he gaped and hissed like crazy! never seen meek little Squee do that before.
When I do it, he doesn't open as wide, and no hissing.
But he turns his head from side to side so fast, it's hard for me to get his
mouth propped open.
I have no one willing to help me out, so I am on my own!!

Squee is getting better, slowly!
Three more days of giving him Baytill!!
He is drinking okay on his own every day, but refuses food.
I think the Baytrill makes him a bit sick, because he sulks in a corner,
very still for hours after I give it to him.

He is starting to get under the basking light more to get warmed up.
So the wound on his spine must be healing.

Progress with these guyz is so slow!!
But at least he is getting stronger :)

I feel so bad for the little guy, and he has been a great "patient" so far.
