Sperm 'plugs'

Miss Lily

A couple of days ago Monty left me a perfect looking little present on one of his branches! I refer to them as 'man bogies' lol! Now, I always thought that the term 'sperm plug' was referring to the build up that causes problems and needs to be removed either by the owner or a vet. It would seem that the normal healthy deposits a male leaves on branches after defecating are also called plugs. The two, to me, are completely different.

Anyhow, this is what Monty left for me - a perfect example of a deposit from each hemipene that is still joined. I thought this would help new members who may encounter this and wonder what it was. If anyone can add a link to a sperm plug that has been removed from a cham after impaction, then please feel free to add it to the thread.

This is a great pic Miss Lily. I hope all you newbies see it and remember what it looks like. We rarely get to see such a perfect example of what they look like.

Monty really is too good to be true!! He is so thoughtful he drops his sperm pulgs so you don't have to remove them. Next you will have that sweet boy cleaning his own cage.:):)

My male recently left one of these on my arm after seeing my female for the first time haha..

Thanks! He doesn't always produce one, but this was a particularly good example and I thought a pic would come in handy at some point!
