somthings wrong with my chameleon

Does she sit low in the cage? Does she have her eyes open all day?

I'm not a vet and can only take what you have said to guess at what is wrong....MBD can show up as bumps on the arms/legs as well as make a chameleon shakey. D3 can not be produced if the chameleon doesn't have a source of UVB either from direct sunlight (that does not pass through glass or plastic) or from a proper UVB bulb or gets it from supplements or something that it eats. You said she can't hold herself up at the front (no trunkal lifting)...lack of trunkal lifting is also a sign of MBD. What supplements do you use specifically and how often for each? If she has MBD its important to correct it asap so that the damage can be stopped before it kills her. A vet can run tests to determine if she has MBD and if she does give her calcium injections until the blood calcium levels are high enough to give her a shot of calcitonin to draw the calcium rapidly back into her bones.

If she has MBD and is producing eggs, it can lead to problems with the shelling of the eggs as well as the laying of them since calcium also plays a part in muscle contractions. It can also lead to constipation and maybe even prolapses.

Also...you said that she is old enough to produce eggs...has she got a place to dig (opaque container 12" deep by 12" x 8", filled almost full of washed playsand) in her cage so that she can lay them if need be? (BTW...when a female is digging to lay eggs, you should not let her see you watching her. It can push her to eggbinding.)

no the cage sits on a tall dresser and yes her eyes are open all day and she dosent stay on the ground ... i ment when i put her on a flat surface she cant suppport her self up but she still climbs with almost no problem ... i also wnated to ask where you got the branches and other things that my chameleon can climb on cause the leaves that i bought at petsmart would fall off (i took them out so she wouldent hurt her self more)

please get a camera and post a picture! She needs a UVB light ASAP! They cannot survive without one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can buy vines at the pet store and branches you can get from a tree anywhere. Just make sure if they do not come from your yard and you do not know if they are pesticide free, then make sure you wash them with soapy water thoroughly before putting them in your cage. Get a nice big live plant like a Shefflera or ficus. Change out the soil with organic soil that does not have fertilizer in it. Then cover that up with LARGE river rocks so your chameleon does not eat the soil. Also, please post a pic of your set up and cage.

Are you going to take her to the vet and make the necessary corrections to the cage (like getting a proper UVB light)? You need to do this quickly or at least take her outside for exposure to direct sunlight until you can..provided the temperatures are warm enough for her out there.

You can take branches from a tree outside as long as the tree isn't toxic to the chameleon. Where do you live?
With fake greenery leaves can fall off and there is always the worry that the chameleon might ingest one and become impacted. Non-toxic plants that have been well-washed, both sides of the leaves are a better option.

Once again...has she got a place to dig in her cage to lay eggs??

my chameleon does not shake when she moves any more .....she still cant hold her self up on a flat surface but she can climb and has been climbing. today i got her a new climbing branch from a local petstore called "zookeeper" and she seemed to liked it ... i also got her a uvb lamp wednessday and ill try to get the picture up asap but for the most part liz is almot back to normal but she still has thoses bumps on her arm and leg

The only thing I can tell you is Chameleons shouldn't be put in a glass cage, the reflection stresses them out.

ok, so we all hope it was a bad bruise on the leg, but what if it was a break or the warning signs of mbd? I'm sure you want to do the best you can, so at least register and take your cham to a vet. Also stay on the forum and read care sheets to get up to speed, because there are people here who are real experts (actual zookeepers and such :))

Reptiles are easy to keep, but only if you know how, and people on here know what to do. You asked for help and you could really do with a vet check up. If you have a lot of experience with chameleons it's different, but I know you don't have any.........which is why you need to do your research thoroughly.......good luck with this one :)

That's not true. Many people here keep kept chameleons in ventilated glass enclosures for years. They report no evidence of them seeing their reflections.

Yet again there's another keeper out there that needs to do a little research before making their opinion public!! (glass cages do not stress out chameleons!)
