Thought I might share with ya'll some of the different aquatic species I've worked with for breeding or just for fun. Aquarium photography aint easy!!

I'll start with the plecos, A lot of my plecs have been published on planet catfish .com for species identification.

L399 fresh in the bag.

I'll be adding more pics of different speceis as the day goes on. Having over 40 tanks at one time...I gots a lotta pics!

Enjoy :)

Hi Syn,

I used too. I sold a few show guppies on aquabid, but most of my plecs were sold on other forums like this one. I'm picky as far as who gets the plecs. They require special attention to say the least.

In a way it's a lot like Cham breeding. Lots of work for little to no return. The fish pictured above required daily cool water changes with RO water to reduce the TDS (total disolved hardness) of the water, to trigger spawning. But first you have to simulate the dry season of the amazon and the represtented tributary that each species comes from. Water peramiters vary from tributary to tributary.

Now the tanks I have left are just for my personal enjoyment. The only fish I pictured (there are still many others) that I still have are the L399s, (no way in hell I'm getting rid of them, they are pretty rare) and the Panaque.

Beautiful Plecs!!!! I have several bristlenose plecostemus- they have never reproduced though. Keep up the good work!

Pure,

Those are so nice Plecostomus you have there. I've always wanted to get into them but always spent my time with my reef tank. I've always wanted a nice Takashi Amano style amazon localality specific tank. In my opinion, there is nothing that compares to a beautifully planted freshwater aquarium with a school of caridnals or neons (how much do you like red) swimming about. Can't forget that school of coriy's! ;)

Good stuff...

Luis

I couldn't agree with you more.

Not Ammano but I liked it!

My personal Favorite Tetra would have to be the Rummy Nose
Rummynosetetra10.jpg

I use them in my Discus tanks as they are one of the best water quality meters. Their noses turn progresivly duller the worse it gets.

I have a small SW tank, but my love for the Amazon has pretty much been the deciding factor of how light my wallet is. SW aint cheap!

And now with my new found intrest in Chams...well we will see how far I go. muahahah!

i never knew there were so many different kinds of "sucker fish" :p

i really enjoyed the pictures, thanks for sharing!

Beautiful pictures!!!!!! I too was into fish tanks (not as much as you:p) before I got into chams. I dont have anymore tanks but I do have a few chams:rolleyes: My favorite fish I had was a huge electric blue jack dempsey that I raised from a very tiny size:D Talk about neon blues, bright whites and jet blacks!!!! What a beautiful fish. Wish I had some pics:( I also had firemouth cichlids and one day I woke up to look into the tank and I saw little tiny ones. It was fascinating watching them scoop up the little ones in thier mouth and spit them back out into the school:) I thought they were eating them the first time I saw it:eek: WOW!!! Thanks for the memories:) Almost makes me want to get back into it. Again great pics and species!!

I had a fish tank, was real nice too! I just could not keep the fish alive for that long.:( So I upgraded to this tank. Now when the fish don't make it, tank cleaning in a snap!;)

LOL. Thats an exact replica of my tank ;)

How many gallons is that big tank of yours with all those plants in it?
