Something a little different

I've been trying to think of some different food options or treats I could feed my chams. Whilst scouring ebay I came across elephant hawk moths and larvae for sale. These things look to be quite big but if they were of suitable size could I feed them to my veiled? They would be far too big for my panthers just now unless the larvae were small upon delivery.

Rule of thumb is prey should not be larger than width between cham's eyes. However, i don't count wing span, usually. It folds right up. I am not familiar with the moths you speak of, so don't know size. However, my son catches caterpillars all the time. We hatch them out to moths and feed to our veils. Holy smokes, do they LOVE them! So, use your judgement.

Could only find wingspan length, which is 2.0-2.8". They seem rather large. A full sized adult male should probably be ok. A larger female should maybe be ok, with a hatchling moth. They feed on nectar at night. Hard to say without seeing them side by side. The hatchlings may be smaller. Not much info, and what was available was short.

They would make a nice treat.

Ok cool. So I'll go ahead and order them then and make judgement when they arrive. I was looking to see if they were poisonous but couldn't find anything.

Those are some nice looking chams! The panther looks just like my male! Do they live in the same cage?

They do in the winter months. Male panthers work well with the larger parsons, as long as it's a one to one ratio, and enough space is given.
