There is actually a quicker way to correct the calcium issues...a vet can give the chameleon a series of calcium injections and when the blood calcium levels are high enough a shot of calcitonin which rapidly draws the calcium back into the bones.

Ouch I've heard of that before, my vet has never done that to any of the rescues I bring her though. Not sure why but I think she kinda doesn't want to hurt them if she doesn't have to (with the needle I mean).
