so i hung a cup recently he hasnt gone near it but i have seen him shoot his tongue a few times. once at a leaf two times at the screen cage way up. is this him eating? the crickets are small and he wont eat when im near so i have to watch from another room and i cant see. can crickets sit on the side of a screen cage if they are small? thank you

Crickets prefer to crawl on the screen and usually end up huddled near the top, either near the basking light or behind a leaf if possible. I would venture to guess that he was eating.

Crickets do like to climb the screen. If you've seen him shooting his tongue then he's almost certainly eating. They do miss sometimes, but not too often once they have something in their sights :) What species is he and how old? If you don't see many crickets going from the cup it might be better to 'free range' his food until he's a little older. They love fruit flies when they are younger, and I mention it because watching little chameleons hunting fruit flies is one of my favourite pastimes :)

He is a juvenile veiled chameleon about 2 to 2 and half months!! i got him yesterday and i am so excited!:) they are definitely my favorite animal so it is good to have him! and thank you it is good to know crickets climb the screen so i have an idea of what he was doing! :)

Sweet...we love to see pictures so if you can get a couple in his first days with you then you should, they grow up so fast :) I read your other posts now as well, and your humidity will be fine as it is for him. They often take up to a week to settle into a new house properly so don't worry about him not eating his full quota straight away. You have obviously done all your research but here is a great all-round caresheet I always recommend to people with Veileds - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html
