Some swollen spots on him

Can someone help with this?
It grown for some months and I've decided to take him to the vet and it was sair that he need to do a surgery to remove these swollen but that they does not know what is.

L is about 5yr old and is fine, but these swollen have worried me.

I would think they need to be checked out to see what they are for sure. Could be infection or maybe tumors or something else. I've never seen anything quite like those.
